According to reports, the future MediaTek Dimensity 9300 flagship smartphone processor will strongly rival the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. However, it now seems that it will have one edge that no other chipset on the market currently has: compatibility for the newest LPDDR5T RAM.
The Dimensity 9300 can give unmatched memory bandwidth of 9.6Gbps thanks to compatibility for the LPDDR5T standard, making it faster than the fastest LPDDR5X RAM, which max out at 8.5Gbps. Digital Chat Station has revealed further details on the Dimensity 9300, including support for LPDDR5T RAM. The SoC is believed to come with a very different CPU design than its next competitor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor.
The Dimensity 9300’s unique 8-core configuration gives it the potential to outperform the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in multi-threaded tests. Still, those same cores may also prove to be its downfall because they lack efficiency cores, which prevent any smartphone or tablet running it from providing the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3’s competitive battery life. The ARM Immortalis G720 GPU has capabilities like ray tracing in addition to the eight cores.
