A new Cyberpunk 2077 1.02 Update is looming over Playstation players, and the game isn’t even out yet. Previously, the game recieved a massive, 43 GB 1.01 update on top of the base game. Fans had anticipated that the 1.01 Update was the fabled day one patch that would fix all the minor bugs and issues. But @fabiandoehla on Twitter lifted the curtains and revealed that 1.01 was in fact NOT the day one patch.
According to @PlaystationSize on Twitter, the Cyberpunk 2077 1.02 Update is quite likely (90%) the rumored day one patch. Based on the region, it can be anywhere between 42.8 GB to 44 GB.
There’s almost a difference of 6GB in CUSA16579 and CUSA16496 region.
As previously noted, Cyberpunk 2077 takes over 100 GB on PS4, as opposed to 60 GB on PC and Xbox One. When you add the new 1.02 update to the mix, you’ve got a game that’s over 150 GB. Let’s not forget the fact that while it’s quite likely the day one patch, there are no assurances.
All things said and conidered, the massive file sizes will be forgiven, thanks to the uncontainable hype around the game. Almost every major publication has already reviewd the game. While the reviews are overwhelmingly positive, they’re not perfect scores. A lot of the reviewers played the pre-release version of the game, which had some noticiable bugs. The day one patch is expected to fix all of these bugs that popped around during reviews.
Interestingly, almost every critic that has reviewed the game so far has only played it on PC. There haven’t been any reviews for the console version, but copies of the game are readily available now for both PS4 and Xbox One. Interestingly, there have been no updates for PC. I just pre-loaded a copy of Cyberpunk 2077 via Steam on my PC and it was just shy of 60 GB. Only time can tell what’s contained within these massive updates and if players on PC and Xbox will have to download a day one patch at a later date.
