Recently, an alleged leak claiming that Rockstar is releasing ‘Red Dead Redemption The Outlaws Collection’ is making a huge buzz on Twitter as well as Reddit. The leak claims that a complete remake of Red Dead Redemption, as well as an enhanced version of the Red Dead Redemption 2, is coming to PS4, PS5 and Xbox Series S/X. Unfortunately, as much I hate to say this, it’s fake, and here’s exactly why.
As real as this listing appears to be, it’s a fake one. The secret to debunking this leak lies in the details. Here are a few details that tell why this is a fake listing which you might‘ve missed at first sight.
First and foremost, take a look at the release date, December 31, 2021. Okay, not too shabby. But once you glance at the return policy, you’ll see it is returnable until January 31, 2021. How can you return a game before it’s even released?
Now take a look at John’s stance and his shirt.
Does this image ring a bell? This is from a digital art collection that was released back in 2018 by Rockstar. The ‘leaked’ listing simply edited Jhon’s shirt from blue to red and neatly edited it in. On top of that, the rest of the artwork is also reused from Red Dead Redemption 2’s cover. While company’s do reuse the artwork, it’s quite unlikely that Rockstar would induldge in such practices.
While these were the two major points that helped us debunk this allegedly ‘massive leak’, there a few other minor details as well. For example take a look at the price, $69.96. A standard PS5 game costs $69.99, which isn’t quite off from the leaked pricing, but the 3 cents off doesn’t fit into the pricing scheme, at least not the list prices. Then there’s the fact that the leaker didn’t provide us with any list to the listing, not even a dead link.
Sorry to disappoint you folks, but Red Dead Redemption The Outlaws Collection isn’t coming out any time soon. This is just a well-edited HTML page, or perhaps just a still image. Does it mean that Red Dead Redemption games will never come out on PS5 and Xbox Series S/X? Absolutely not! Rockstar loves to rerelease their games and Red Dead Redemption titles will surely land on next-gen consoles, just not yet. You may have to wait a couple of years before you can ride off into the dusk on your next-gen console.
