The official Xbox account has just confirmed that today’s launch of Among Us on PC for Xbox Game Pass for PC will see a release on the Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One family of consoles in 2021. The game recently released for Nintendo Switch a couple of days ago, so this could mean a PlayStation 4/5 Version shouldn’t be too far behind.
Among Us on Xbox Consoles coming in 2021
According to an official blog post and a tweet to go with it, Among Us is coming to the Xbox Game Pass for consoles to accompany the PC release that happened earlier today.
The news confirms that the game will come to the Xbox Series X/S and the Xbox One family of consoles, and this should hopefully allow for crossplay between the existing platforms amongst each other, since the Nintendo Switch version already has the feature available.
It seems that only the PS4/5 version is left to be put out there, and it goes without saying that the game will definitely require players to have Xbox Live Gold to play online, and will also be the same for the PlayStation consoles if it should come with the same $5 price tag that Nintendo Switch players paid for the game.
Hopefully we will see a simultaneous release of the PS4/5 and Xbox Versions together with the release of the new airship map, which is something the community as a whole is looking forward to as it will bring a new map, new tasks and preferably a new set of cosmetics to the game as well.
While we don’t have a specific date for the release of the console version of Among Us for the Xbox consoles, we do know that it should be in 2021.
As a part of Game Pass, subscribers to the service will get the game for free but online will still require Xbox Live Gold to play with friends or other people, which is how the game is currently working for Nintendo Switch owners. They also require the Nintendo Online Membership to play with friends, regardless of platform.
