It seems that a Korean website by the name of Naver, has stated that Apple could be working on introducing a new entry to the iPad Mini line in the form of the iPad Mini Pro. While official specs and details are scarce, this is still a rumor, and while there are rumors of a new iPad and MacBook Pro being announced on a rumored Apple event scheduled for March, one can only hope that such an iPad is real.
The iPad Mini Pro – Getting a big upgrade
Apple’s iPad mini line is known for its portability. Its easy to carry, and offers a price to match. While the iPad Mini caters to a very specific market, there is a rumor that the iPad Mini Pro could enter the market to spice up the portable tablet space.
We know that Apple’s pro products are always built with a little extra kick. This is evident in the MacBook Pro and iPad Pro line of devices, but there isn’t a Pro for the Mini yet.
The last time the iPad Mini was talked about was a revision in 2019 which gave it True Tone display, Bluetooth 5.0, the Apple A12 Bionic chip, and support for Apple Pencil (1st gen).
If we are to believe in the existence of the fabled iPad Mini Pro, it would have to keep the True Tone display and Bluetooth 5.0 but would see an upgrade to the SoC and support for Apple Pencil Generation 2 (maybe even the Generation 3?).
Famed Apple Analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo did say that the next iPad Mini will have a display that would measure between 8.5 to 9 inches. This is quite the upgrade from the current standard for the iPad Mini line which currently has a peak screen size of 7.9 inches.
For now, we have to take this rumor with a grain of salt. As we still have no positive affirmation from Apple about the existence of any event scheduled to happen in March.
There is also the brief possibility of Apple just stealth dropping any of these products via a NewsRoom update. Only time will tell what we will get.
