Cyberpunk 2077 preload are now going live on all platforms, but there is a weird catch that makes the PS4 version stand out the most. According to some early reports, the PS4 version weighs in at a massive 102 GB. To contrast, the PC and Xbox One versions of the game weigh in at 60GB each, almost a whole third lesser in size.
Cyberpunk 2077 preload are now live but you’re gonna need all the speed
Cyberpunk 2077 preload is now live on all the platforms the game is set to launch on, with one key difference. The PS4 version weighs the heaviest (currently) at a 102 GB while the Xbox and PC version weigh in 60 GB.
On PC, the preload is live via GOG. There is also a fun easter egg if you try launching the game early.
It seems that the PS4 version is the most complete version of the game so far, with its massive size. While solid details are scarce, its still presumed that all 3 sizes are without the day one patch. We did report earlier on the massive patches that early copies are downloading, but CDPR later clarified that none of those downloads were the fabled day one patch.
While it is unclear if the Xbox and PC versions will have to download more content at a later date, its still odd for a game to have a pre-load without the day 1 patch, as the purpose of a digital download is to allow gamers to play the game right away, with day one patch included.
The PS4 version is also the earliest version to get its retail copies leaked, but that shouldn’t be the reason for it being so massive in size.
It’s still not clear why there is such a glaring discrepancy when it comes down to comparing the other 3 versions of the game. For now, all we can do is wait and see on what CD Projekt Red says about the state of downloads.
Will users still have to download a day one patch, but at a later date?
