Apple has launched a new feature that many fans may or may not appreciate, but nonetheless, it is something worth considering. Apple has launched a new page that lets users shift their iCloud photos and videos over to Google Photos. In the event that you don’t want to spend money on iCloud storage but do have Google Storage to spare via Google One.

Apple has launched a new tool that lets you transfer your iCloud photos and videos over to Google Photos with little to no problem.

Albeit there are a few caveats and a few exceptions to this program, it is still something one might consider if you have an active Google One subscription, but not Apple Storage.

If you’re wondering how the process works, its simple.

  • 1. sign in to privacy.apple.com with your Apple ID.
  • 2. Select the option of transfer a copy of your data.
  • 3. Follow the remaining prompts to complete the transfer.
  • 4. Sign in with your Google account to finish the process.

In terms of content that isn’t transferred or carried over in the program, the page says the following:

“Some content—including shared albums, smart albums, photo stream content, live photos, some metadata, and photos and videos stored in other folders or locations—is not transferred at all.”

The service is also not live globally, but it is available in a majority of territories: Canada, The United States of America, The United Kingdom, Norway, Switzerland, The European Union, Australia, Liechtenstein, and Iceland.

So far it seems like the service is not available to customers who are in Asia or Africa just yet.

Lastly, the transfer can take between 3 to 7 working days, since Apple does this to ensure that the request was indeed made by you.

It is also important to note that you have to ensure adequate storage is available on your Google One account in order to avoid any hurdles. A full storage on your Google Account can lead to some big problems.
