Apple’s iPhone 15 Lineup Will Include Compromised Charging With Third Party USB-C Cables

Although Apple’s good intention to offer USB-C to its iPhone range later this year, not all connectors will be suitable to transfrer wired data at full speed. To fully use the USB-C port’s capabilities, you will need to purchase an MFi cable or another equipment that adheres to the standard.

The phrase “this year’s iPhone 15 models will come with USB-C with MFi” was first used by ShrimpApplePro. Moreover, Foxconn, Apple’s primary supplier, has already started making MFi-compatible accessories.

The chip that authenticates accessories encourages customers to buy original add-ons, much like how Apple stops signing older iOS releases so users may experience the newest features and security upgrades. Also, it is simpler to tell the difference between real and phoney accessories. Although there are advantages, non-MFi accessories will curb the iPhone’s charging speed in addition to restricting data transmission rates.

According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the whole iPhone 15 range will embrace the USB-C connection, but only the iPhone 15 Pro models will have USB 3.2 or Thunderbolt 3 capability. The regular devices will continue to use USB 2.0, which is another way that Apple differentiates the two models. Apple wants the “Pro” models to stand out from the basic versions so that it can market them as the premium smartphones with special capabilities.
